Foster’s Kids
Tennessee’s first ever stint as the number 1 team in the nation will be short lived. Vanderbilt knocked off the Vols 72-69 in Nashville Tuesday night. Shane Foster led all scorers with 32 points. Foster led three Vandy players in double figures with also Jermaine Beal’s 17 points and Alex Gordon’s 11. The victory marked the second time in two years Vandy beat the number 1 team on it’s home floor. Then number 1 Florida lost 83-70. Chris Lofton led the Vols with 25 points including an array of three point shots and drives to the hole. Bruce Pearl was just as animated as he was in Memphis but things didn’t go the same. Due t the strange configuration in Memorial Gym Pearl couldn’t relate to his team until the second half because of the benches being on the baselines of the floor. “We play best when everybody contributes and tonight we just did not get a lot of contributions from alot of guys that normally do” Pearl said. With the win Vandy is now 24-4, 9-4 and the Vols fall to 25-3, 11-2 in conference.
