Dear Mr.King,

Today we celebrate your birthday, and reflect on what has become of the people you died standing up for.  In your time we as African-American were not getting a fair shake in life or sports.  Here it is 2008 and on the surface some would say things have gotten better.  Lots of African-Americans are doing great things in life and Sport.  No means are things equal.  Some of us could never do what we are doing if not for you and what you stood and died for.  I know you might be thinking that some of us have forgotten the message.  Looking at Sports only, Micheal Vick, Barry Bonds, Tank Johnson, Adam Jones, Chris Henry just to name a few.  I hope you can forgive them for being misguided or thinking that they are above the message.  We still have a lot of work to do and those that can really move things along are trying, but we still need all the help we can get.  I sometimes wonder if everyone really understood the message?  We are all here to do one thing and that is to do the best we can NO MATTER WHAT COLOR YOU ARE!!!!!!! and to help each other succeed in this very short and fast paced life.  Life can be a joy and pleasure to all of us if we work together.  It can also be a pain and struggle if we don’t.  I look to some of the teams out there and think that, if we act the same way as some of the teams out there, only instead of playing a game put it to use in life.  The world would be as you wanted it EQUAL.  Maybe Sports got the Message.  It take all of us! no matter if you’re black, white, purple, green, or indifferent.  If we start helping each other to succeed instead of wasting time trying to destroy each other, god only knows what we could accomplish.  Maybe you were right Mr.King it is all a “DREAM”.
