Blazers Hold On To Their Streak
January 22, 2008 |
In Phillips Arena yesterday during a midday game the Atlanta Hawks face a great challenge in the Portland Trail Blazers. The Hawks lost in overtime 111-109. I was at this game and getting a first hand look of what happen and how I feel the reason for the Hawks lost was plain and simple…..DEFENSE. Defense most definitely wins games and at times there was little to none of that from the Hawks.
The Trail Blazers have won their sixth straight in Atlanta. Mistakes after mistakes were being made by the Hawks. Three second violations, missed layups, and not going hard and strong for a rebound. I can’t blame the whole team Josh Smith was acting like a one man show out there at times. Joe Johnson lead the Hawks with 37 pts, but he did miss the last second shot to put the Hawks into double overtime. Brandon Roy look great and he had 18 but the MVP must go to Travis Outlaw for hitting that last shot to win the game. He finished with 23 points. Greg Oden was there and he was looking like the 45-year old man that he is, he wore a blazer with jeans and he just sat on the last seat only getting up during timeouts and halftime of course. My take on the game is that the Hawks could have easily won this game. Just a lot of mistakes, the layups that they missed and not going hard for the rebounds really cost the Hawks that game. Next up for the Hawks, they head out west for a five games on the road. First up is the Denver Nuggets.
