What a Rivalry Pt. 2- Pats vs Colts
The New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts are quickly becoming the Hatfields & MCcoys, Yankees-Red Sox, Hurricanes-Seminoles. In what proved to be the game that lived up to the hype the Pats got by the Colts 24-20 in come from behind fashion. Playing without star receiver Marvin Harrison and later Anthony Gonzalez the Colts had not only a 10 point lead but seemingly the perfect gameplan for stopping the Pats. Entering the final quarter Tom Brady had thrown for less than a 100 yards and had two interceptions. The Colts and Joseph Addai controlled the ball by running a using short passes. The defense played the best three quarters they have played in Tony Dungy tenure. But as we all know football is four quarters and the Pats know this as well. Tom Brady went to his main man Randy Moss on a 56 yard reception that got the ball inside the Colt five yardline. Unsung hero Wes Welker scored two plays later. The Pat defense stood on it’s ear to give the offense the ball back. A huge punt return by Welker and a Donte Stallworth reception set up the winning score. Kevin Faulk took a Brady pass 13 yards to the endzone for a 24-20 lead. One more stand by the Pats “D” ended the game as Jarvis Green sacked and stripped Peyton Manning and Rooselvelt Colvin caught it in mid air to preserve the victory. It was later reported that the Colts actually pumped in fake crowd noise during the game. The Pats plan to form a complaint to the league. An outstanding game that showed truly if you are going to win championships then you need to play defense.
