Weekend Predictions-College Football
Well it is Championship Week with the MAC, Big 12,ACC and SEC crowning champs in their Championship Games. Also the PAC-10 will be decided as well. My record for the year is an impressive 25-16. Can you beat that? Probaly not…… So here we go……..
In the SEC the Tennessee Vols face off with LSU Tigers in Atlanta. The Vols come in riding the emotion of a four overtime victory over Kentucky to clinch the East division. The Tigers on the other hand are on the other end of the spectrum. The Tigers had their dreams dashed when the Hogs came from behind to beat the Tigers in three overtimes 50-48. To make matters worse Matt Flynn will not make the start. That leaves Ryan Perrilloux to make his second start of the season in the Dome.
#7 LSU vs #14 Tennessee
A spot in the BCS, a trip to the Superdome in New Orleans and a potential national championship were all right there for LSU. After losing its regular-season finale, two of those three are still there for the taking, but the big prize may be unreachable.Ranked No. 1 again after having given up that spot following a triple-overtime defeat at Kentucky on Oct. 13, LSU had only Arkansas standing in its way before the SEC title game and then, assuming all went well, a trip to the BCS championship game on Jan. 7.Miles spent a good portion of the week leading up to the Arkansas game trying to silence rumors that he would leave LSU for Michigan, his alma mater. With the firing of Bill Callahan at Nebraska last Saturday, talks of Tigers defensive coordinator Bo Pelini returning to Lincoln — where he once held the same position — have heated up.Tennessee is coming off a wild overtime finish as well. The Volunteers blew a 31-14 third-quarter lead, but outlasted Kentucky 52-50 in four overtimes on the road to clinch a spot in Atlanta.Ainge has been the catalyst, completing 64.2 percent of his passes for 2,908 yards with 27 touchdowns and eight interceptions. With decent numbers against LSU and in the Volunteers’ bowl game, the senior will be second on the school’s all-time yardage list for a season, behind only Peyton Manning. These teams met in the 2001 SEC championship game. Tennessee was ranked No. 2 and was set to play for the BCS title with a win, but No. 21 LSU upset the Volunteers 31-20.Tennessee leads the all-time series 20-6-3. The teams split their meetings in 2005 and 2006, with each winning on the road.(fromespn.com)

ACC Championship Game
#6 Boston College vs #11 Virginia Tech
This game features the darlings of the College Football world a few weeks ago against the team that has overcome tradegy to give their fans something to cheer about. The Hokies have overcome defeats during the season to LSU and later a heartbreaking fourth quarter loss to these same Eagles. Matt Ryan has led his Eagles to the their first ACC Championsohip game appearance and is looking to cap off his senior season with a championship.
The sixth-ranked Hokies get a rare chance for revenge Saturday when they face the No. 12 Eagles in the ACC title game in Jacksonville, with the winner likely earning a spot in the Orange Bowl. When these teams met in Blacksburg on Oct. 25, BC (10-2, 6-2) was undefeated and ranked No. 2 while the Hokies (10-2, 7-1) had lost only to LSU. Virginia Tech led 10-0 with less than three minutes to play before two late Matt Ryan touchdown passes gave the Eagles a 14-10 win.Behind Ryan and senior running back Andre Callender (905 yards rushing, 613 yards receiving, 13 total touchdowns), the Eagles average over 100 more yards per game than Virginia Tech, but the Hokies make up for it defensively. Virginia Tech allows the second-fewest points per game in the nation (15.4) and the fourth-fewest yards (285.3). The Hokies held BC scoreless for 57 minutes in October even without standout linebacker Vince Hall.Despite having two losses, Virginia Tech can keep its name at least in the conversation for a national championship game berth with a win. The Hokies would need both Missouri and West Virginia to lose this week, and would need to leapfrog idle Georgia and Kansas in the BCS standings while hoping another team like LSU wouldn’t pass them. This is the first time in the three-year history of the ACC championship game that two of the three schools that came over from the Big East will face off.(fromespn.com)

The Big 12 Championship
#1 Missouri vs #9 Oklahoma
In the game that can decide a BCS Championship spot the Tigers of Missouri have a chance with a victory to garner a spot. This is also a chance at redemption as they get another shot at the Sooners. Chase Daniel has another chance to influence the Heisman voters with a strong outing. The top-ranked Tigers look to avenge their only loss of the season and secure a spot in the BCS title game with a win over No. 9 Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game Saturday night in San Antonio.Missouri, which hasn’t won a league title since winning the Big Eight in 1969 and has never won a national championship, is one win away from earning a spot in the BCS title game on Jan. 7 in New Orleans. Before that can happen, though, it must avoid a sixth straight loss to Oklahoma (10-2, 6-2), which beat Missouri 41-31 at home on Oct. 13.Daniel, who’s blossomed into a serious Heisman Trophy contender, was 40-for-49 for 361 yards and three touchdowns versus Kansas. The junior, who has thrown for a career-best 3,951 yards and 33 touchdowns, has 10 TDs and no interceptions in his last three games.Daniel has only one more touchdown pass than Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, who has thrown for an NCAA freshman-record 32 TDs this season. Bradford broke the mark last Saturday with four touchdown passes as he looked fully recovered from a concussion which knocked him out of the previous week’s game.”The South trophy is nice, but we want the other one,” Stoops said. “To us, that’s what matters is the championship.”(fromespn.com)
