GOING…GOING… GONE
About a month ago I wrote about my Husker Blues and I thought I may have found a cure in Tom Osborne, but after the whoopin (I can’t even call it a whoopin cause it was way more then that) that we received last Saturday from the Jayhawks I now believe that it is time for Coach Callahan to say Good-bye. He has tanked our season so badly it’s doudtful he’ll ever be a head coach again. The statistics will follow him forever.
Is that enough for the Husker fans?? Its enough for me. I don’t think we need to brand Callahan with a scarlet “N” when the season’s over. Don’t burn his house down, don’t plant “for sale” signs in the yard, don’t burn him at the stake or hang him either. Tom Osborne has said that he will not change the coach until the end of the season and that might be for the best. No one can come in here and clean up what has already spilled. Just give him his buyout at the end of the season and let him be on his way.
And to the whole “Bill Callahan snubbed Tom Osborne” business, after the game how could the man face Tom Osborne. He got beat so bad in front of Osborne and he knows how people view him. He also holds the man’s job in his hand, but maybe he just had a lot on his mind; like where can I send my Resume. If Callahan is out, who goes in???? Alot of people are starting to say Bo Pelini. You can bet Pelini would do better, not to mention defend the spread offense. When Pelini, was a candidate at Nebraska to succeed Frank Solich, he landed top-10 center Danny Muy out of Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fl. Three of Muy’s teammates said they would sign, too, if Pelini got the job. He didn’t, and they scattered. Muy lasted one year under Callahan and transferred.

You damn right he should be gone. Nebraska is steeped in tradition and this man has ruined it for the last three plus years. Noone fears the Huskers anymore and that is a shame. Gone are the days of the classic matchups with Oklahoma and later with Colorado.
