Patriots America’s team?….I DON”T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you have a the name of the patriots as a nickname and you sport the red,white ,and blue. Last night you successfully beat the Cowboys at home for the first time in team history. Now you think you have the right to be called America’s Team? How bout you get some tradition and history behind you first. You have only been winning this decade from 2000 to now. The Cowboys have been winning for 3 decades!!!!!! You have 5 super bowl appearances, Cowboys have 10. You have classic battles with the Colts. Let me see here in the 70’s the Cowboys V Steelers,not once but 2 times in the super bowl,the 80’s Cowboys V 49er’s the 49ers superbowl roads always ran thru Dallas,the 90’s Cowboys V Bills 2 times in the super bowl. You have Bill Belichick “damn good coach by the way”, Before him Bill Parcells. The Cowboys have had Tom.Landry,Jimmy Johnson,Barry Switzer all have taken the Cowboys to super bowl victories. Before 2000 season ask anyone to name a Patriot besides Drew Bledsoe. Hell Until Bill Parcells came the Patriots were never a superbowl threat.You had a one-miss shot in 1985 with a Bears team that blew you out of the water. The Cowboys have been Championship talks every decade including this one. So you beat the Cowboys this year and all of sudden you think you are America’s Team go kick rocks you bastids. The Yankees are Baseball’s America’s team,The Lakers and Celtics are Basketball’s America’s team, Hell the Detriot RedWings are Hockey’s America’s team.What do the teams have in common? HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!you idiots!!!!!!!!!! Love them or hate them they have history and tradtion. Even when these team are losing they pack stadiums. you guys are just mere infants to this. Cowboys have been doing it for decades not decade. Gratz on your big win last night but you have a long ways to go before you will be AMERICA’S TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chance I don’t know if you can include Barry Switzer in with the names of Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson. He was a good college coach but he was a mere puppet in the pros. I understand where you are coming from.
I truly understand trust me I do, but what we are seeing with the Pats is hitoric and when you see so many players hoping from team to team they have been so strong. I just wish the Colts were in the NFC therefore the SuperBowl this year will be competive.
Chance, give me a break!!!! What do you think they are doing now?? They have been building history all this time, they are becoming great just like your Cowboys from history PAST…just because the Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl this decade and I know you are mad that they didn’t win but you got to give credit where it is do. The Lakers were not always on top but history came back around and look they won a 3-peat. I’m just saying that if the Partiots are becoming America’s team right now that maybe something alot of Cowboys fans may have to face. I’m sorry that we had to beat you guys like that at home, but we have a point to make to you and all the other haters in the World.
ok BC before u can say any thing answer this before 2000 where were the patriots even when we had down years during any decade we came up thru the ranks as one of the best!!! patriots just started and they want America’s team title WTF?????i thought you of all ppl would understand being a Laker fan when the Lakers were down they still came thru during the decade at some point to be a contender. The Pats were not contenders in the 70s,80s, or 90s!!!!!!!! we have held strong during those decades and once again at the top of the NFC again in 2000’s PATRIOTS WILL NEVER BE AMERICA”S TEAM you guys are making history!!!!! And I give you that you guys have an excellent history, but dont knock down on the Pat for growing a history of their own. When Dieon Sanders was a Cowboy trust me I was riding with you guys but things changed I saw one game with Drew and that was it and I never looked back from there. No, we were not a factor in the 70’s, 80’s or even the 90’s but we are now and this is what counts…we can go on and on about what about in the 7o’s and so forth but when it is all said an done the Partiots will be one of the names listed in the NFL when you say Dynasty…..point blank
I never not gave the Patriots their credit they were my picks to go to the super bowl. I’m saying they don’t deserve the America’s team title. case and point when the Chi. Bulls were winning all the time they were never recognized as AMT it was always the Lakers. The Bulls were a great team then but they did not transend time like the Lakers.They also were given the one of the great Dynasty Titles as well. This is the same thing the Patriots are a great team for this decade and they are one of the great Dynasties. They don’t transend time they have just started. You don’t get the America’s Team title because you are having a great decade. You earn it over the course of DECADES!!!( thats more than one).You earn it when you can go to other ppl’s stadiums and there are more of your fans there than theirs on their home field. you earn it thru ppl from all over the world can describe you stadium. You earn it when you have housewhole names from past and present ppl know who you are talking about. That is the YANKEES,LAKERS,COWBOYS. with out looking at a computer or book just off the top of your head Name 10 Patriots before 2000. now do the same with Cowboys that is AMERICA’S TEAM!!!!!!!!!!
The fact is whether you hate us or love us,past or present YOU KNOW US!!!!!!!the same can be said about the YANKEES,LAKERS, EVEN NOTRE DAME!!!!!!!
I say we settle it by letting the fans prove who is America’s Team. Put America’s Team title up for grabs each year and the team fans that collect the most money for a NFL charity becomes America’s Team.

Okay everybody. Here it is. The New England Patriots will most likely win the Super Bowl and it will be a blow out against the Giants and over by halftime. In addition, they will have the prefect season. However, they will not be America’s team. Their record will place them in the history of sports, but not in the minds and more importantly the pocketbook of America. The difference between this team and others like the 1985 Bears, San Francisco, Cowboys and the 1970’s Stealers? People likeable these teams and the players. Until you see a flood of Patriot jackets and jerseys, and kids are dreaming of being Tom Brady, and TV shows are shouting The Patriots! In short the team is not marketable. New England will not be America’s team.
Look, everybody has a valid point. Keep in mind everything is subjective. I’m a Raider fan and lately It’s been hard to be one, but player recignize game.. as they say..Be honest we all are passionate about are teams. It’s easy to call the Patriots because they represent the concept of “Team” they entered the superbowl as a “Team” not mouthy flamboyant punks as many team players on many teams do. All teams have their superstars and some have been superbowl winners. But if there is a natural association between red,white and blue and a patriot symbol, man how can you not salute? Bottom line the patriots are a relativley new dynasty, but in this age of free agency they have done wonders. They can be Patriots if people want them to be. The symbol of democracy in our country. You know, “America”
