Instant Replay- In Baseball
After watching last nights game between the Rockies and the Padres many observers feel that baseball now needs to grow with the times and adopt instant replay. Albeit there were two calls that instant replay would have been a huge help on. One the homerun that after watching the replay clearly showed hitting a wheelchair in the left field stands and of course the Matt Holiday run or no run however you choose to look at it in the bottom of the 13th. Now with that being said how long would it had taken for a replay official to lok at all the replays see what he or she needs to look at come to a conclusion beyond the shadow of a doubt relay that to the crew chief on the field then come with a ruling? In the process not only have you slowed the game down to a crawl but what about the players especially the pitchers. I think there are all types of cases where the human element gets in the way at times in sports but that is also why sports are so great because of the human element. Without that some of are greatest debates don’t happen. As much as last night showed that it could help I say let’s leave it the way it is.
