Are the Falcons that Bad?
Let’s look at this judiciously shall we. The Falcons organization has been through a lot in a short amount of time. The franchise quarterback decides that instead of working on improving his completion percentage he would rather fight dogs in the back of his home in Virginia. That in itself has set the team back at least three years. So you bring in Joey Harrington to be the backup. But he is thrust into the spotlight as your starting quaterback. We all know what Harrington is. More or less a journeyman who has failed in the two other stops he was in ( Miami, Detroit). With that being said the most glaring weakness of this team was not addressed properly in the offseason. Either through the draft or free agency the Falcons didnot acquire substance in the offensive line. For years people around here have said that if it weren’t for the mobility of Vick he would have been killed behind that line. Although you have seen improvement from Roddy White the receiver corp is suspect as well. So you go out get veteran Joe Horn from the Saints in hope that he could provide leadership and stability to the unit. Going into Sunday’s game he had 9 catches. What!!!! Defensively the Falcons are not half bad. Yes Keith Brooking is out of positon playing middle linebacker but that is more to the horrendous play that Ed Hartwell provided when he was here. Michael Bolley is a star in the making and the defensive front is adequate. The secondary led by the mouth of the south Deangelo Hall has a lot to be desired. Lawyer Milloy is about three years past his prime and Chris Crocker ……I’m not allowed to write what kind of play he has been giving the defense. With that being said the Falcons have only been out of one game so far this year. This team easily could be 3-3 rather than 1-5. For Falcon fans yes it is hard right now but keep supporting your franchise because it wasn’t the franchise that let you down it was the franchise Qb ( Mike Vick) that let you down. For those who say the Falcons should have stuck by him and supported him ( Chance) remember it wasn’t until he pled guilty to his charges that the Falcons truly had to wash their hands of this situation. Please let’s remember that.

The Falcons need a miracle and it needs to come in the form of a QB…..Donavan McNabb I know your contract is almost up why not take a trip to the “A”

Mike Vick did a dumb thing, but the NFL and the Falcons turn there back on that man and now look at the Georgia Dome it looks like a snore fest. If Mike Vick was a Cowboy I promise Jerry Jones would have did what he had to do to keep his main man on the field I will never ever understand this whole moral thinking around here. You play to win the DAMN game.

You know…the more I read stuff like this it really makes me wonder if people enjoy taking shots at Vick. Everyone wants to blame the Falcons losing on Vick, we let’s look at the numbers since 2001 when Vick was drafted the Falcons record is 48-54. Now if you take into consideration the fact that Vick didn’t really play his first 2 years and was hurt another one what do you have….A MEDIOCRE TEAM!!!
They are not even .500 and believe me without him they would have been far worse.
If you want to blame someone, blame management for not giving Vick the weapons to win, for not putting play makers on both sides of the ball, for putting QBs at WR during the game!
The only people Vick let down were the Falcon’s accountants, lol.
Team sucked with him…it’s just that no one ever noticed.

YES they are that bad!!!!!!!! The heart of the team is gone. They have no confidence in Joey. Who really does? Bryon was in Atlanta 4 weeks and took the starting job. What we saw sunday(before Bryon got hurt) was what the Falcons needed. You saw the spark in the team. O-Line issues or not they were up 14-7 in the game before Byron was hurt? After Bryon was carted off the field you saw the wind knocked out of their sails. They need to chalk this year up and get ready for the draft. Cuz unless I missed my guess here there are not any frontline starters at QB on the Free agent market. (POETIC JUSTICE)
