Alex Rodriguez leaves 72 million on the table and decides to opt out of his contract and become and free agent. The Yankees were not to happy Hank Steinbrenner had this to say” He clearly doesn’t want to be a Yankee this means goodbye.”

The New York Yankees offered A-Rod and extension of 135 to 140 million for the next 5 years. The contract will had A-Rod in the Yankees pin stripes until the age of 40. The reason for leaving was not the money that’s what the agent Scott Borais said on the behalf of A-Rod we don’t know the direction of the team is going with Joe Torre not being there and Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada might not being there we are not to sure the direction the Yankees are going. The hot teams that are at A-Rod’s door are the Angels,Cubs and maybe the Sanfransico Giants. Alex Rodriguez who hit .314 and 54 homeruns this season and looks like he is on his way to becoming the MVP of the American League this season. The most intresting thing about all this is the timing of his annoucement, why do it during game 4 of the World Series why not do it in November? The Boston Red Sox are on there way to winning a Championship and now A-Rod decides on the Red Sox time to shine to put the spotlight on him.
