Don Mattingly-The New Yankee Manager?

Can Don Mattingly bring a 27th championship to the New York Yankees? Mattingly didn’t do it as a player now according to reports he is the leading canidate to get the New York Yankee job as Manager.

The No. 23 of coarse is Michael Jordan, Lebron James, but to all Yankees fans it’s the beloved Don Mattingly. At one time hands down this guy was considered the best first baseman to have ever played the game. In 1985 he won the MVP award and in his career he won 9 gold gloves and through all the hard times the Yankees was going through as Yankee fans we can always rely on Donnie baseball. In 1995 Don Mattingly had his one and only appearance in the post season and it was a heart breaking loss to the Seattle Mariners. The Mattingly retired in 1996 and Joe Torre and the Yankees went on and outstanding run winning 4 Championships and Mattingly the guy who meant everything to this organization as a player never had a chance to play in the World Series. Now with Joe Torre leaving as the Yankee skipper reports have Don Mattingly will be the new manager running the ship. Mattingly will have some serious shoes to fill with Torre leaving and considred by many the greatest baseball manager to have ever managed a team, Mattingly now has a chance to do something he could never do as a player and that is to become a World Series Champion. The beloved Mattingly to all Yankee fans is maybe getting the keys to the Bentley the only thing that you worry about if the Yankees do not bring the Yankee fans a Championship will Don Mattingly become the one the Yankee fans turn on and no longer become the beloved one? Only time will tell.
