College Football-Review

To all the readers of the Sidelineshow.com I K-Boogie apologize for my lateness of this weekly column. For I have been in mourning over the loss of my beloved Florida Gators to the hated Georgia Bulldogs. Let’s start there shall we. In Jacksonville the Bulldogs reversed their fortune by winning at the “Worlds Largest Cocktail Party” 42-30. Battering Tim Tebow all day to the tune of six sacks and numerous other quarterback hits. You could tell that this game was going to be different when Georgia freshman running back Knowshown Moreno, who rushed for 188 yards on 33 carries, scored from 3 yards out and the entire Bulldog team came out to celebrate the touchdown. That drew a fifteen yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct but truly set the tone for the Bulldogs. Matthew Stafford only threw the ball 18 times connecting on 11 for 217 yards and three touchdowns. The Gator defense had no answer for the Bulldog offense never coming up with the stops needed to win this game. Heartbreaking not just to myself but to the Gators in more ways than one. Not only do you lose to one of your biggest rival the strangle hold that you had on the conference now is gone. This one truly hurts. Okay now to the national scene. Major kudos goes out to Sylvester Croom for his Mississippi State Bulldogs beating the Kentucky Wildcats 31-14 in Lexington. Former Heisman canidate Andre Woodson was intercepted three times. Ohio State continued to look very impressive with a 37-10 victory over the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley. Michigan will be waiting in about three weeks in what could be for the Big Ten crown. Yeah that is right I said Michigan, you know that team that loss to Appalachian State. In what was maybe the most impressive performance of the weekend Arizona State came from 13 points down at the half to beat Cal 31-20. This was the game that the Sun Devils were supposed to fall back to reality. Now the reality is this is a good team and the Oregon Ducks are on the horizon. Speaking of the Ducks they continued the Pac-10 slide of the Trojans with a 24-17 win in Eugene. Dennis Dixon continues to look like a thinner Vince Young as he leads the Ducks spread offense. The game with the Sun Devils will be for the Pac-10 lead. Nebraska seems closer to a new head coach for next season with a 28-25 loss to the Texas Longhorns. Leading 17-9 entering the final quarter until giving up over 300 yards of total offense and 19 points.
