34 days, 10 hours, 36 min, and 24, 23, 22, 21 seconds and counting until the tip off of the NBA season.  This is the time of the year that I love.  Of course I love the fall too, when football season is here and the whole excitement that surrounds that sport, but I never played football (except for in the front lawn as a child with my brothers). But back in the good ol’ days I was a great shooting gurad and small foward, but this is not about me its about the NBA and the game I love.   So lets take a look at opening week…..GO LAKERS!!!!

 Ok, the preseason starts next Saturday, Oct. 6th with two games being played on that day.   Nothing you really want to see, but we have the Toronto Raptors vs. the Boston Celtics.  This maybe the first time that we see Kevin Garrnet in his Celtics green uniform, but I don’t think he will play that much.  Then we have Minnesota vs Efes Pilsen with is an European team. All of these games are well and good but you all know I’m a Lakers fan and their first preseason game starts on Oct 9th vs Golden State.  The preseason last all the way till Oct 29th and then the real fun begins.  There is 3 games played on Oct 30th and eight games on Oct 31st.  On opening night you can catch on TNT at 10:30 EST the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Houston Rockets.  Steve Francis is back on the Rockets roster and that might help them this year.  Yao Ming is going to miss the start of camp because he will attend the opening of the Special Olympics in China but will meet back up with the team Oct. 4th.  Also Portland (minus Oden) will be play defending World Champs San Antonio. Some of the top picks in this years draft will also make their start in opening week.  Joakim Noah will suit up with the Bulls as they take on New Jersey on Halloween night.  And look for Kevin Durrant to make his starting appearance with Seattle also on Halloween.  Our home town team the Atlanta Hawks will not play until Nov 2nd against Dallas but with a new team and uniform hopefully we can get the job done.  Al Hortford and Acie Law are the rookies on the team but if they play anything like they did their last year in college, we should do pretty good.  So lets all get ready for some NBA ACTION!!!
