Weekend Review-NFL
What have I learned in the last week since we spoke? Pretty much nothing. My knowledge still is not what it should be. Most of that can be attributed to my Super Bowl pick the New Orleans Saints. Otherwise known as the 0-3 Saints. ALso known as the Deuce less Saints and on and on and on. Anyway I do have to take credit for knowing that the Green Bay Packers would be okay this year. I picked them to make the playoffs. That would be about it.Brett Favre continues to amaze as he and the Packers stayed undefeated with a 31-24 win over the San Diego Chargers. In the game he tied Dan Marino for the all-time touchdowns mark at 420. What has happened to LT? I think GM Alex Smith is wishing he didn’t have such knee jerk reaction to last year when he fired Marty. Now instead of having the best team in the league he has the worst team in the AFC West. Vince Young continues to show the critics i.e Merril Hoge that all he is is a winner. If you look at the team that he has around him the Titans really shouldn’t scare anyone. But they do and for one reason only, Vince Young. He is truly dynamic. Tony Romo is still showing Jerry Jones the money with his play with another strong performance against the Chicago Bears. Jerry could have gotten off cheap had he re-signed Romo in the off-season but he decided to wait and will have come up with a boat load of change to keep his Qb. Donovan Mcnabb showed whether you are black or white when you throw for almost 400 yards and three touchdowns the people will love you,for now. The Raiders got their first victory of the season as Lane Kiffin showed if its good for the goose than its good for the gander. A timeout just as the Browns were attempting the game winning fieldgoal did ice Phil Dawson because his next try was blocked. David Garrard maybe making the people of Jacksonville forget about Byron Leftwich as the Jags beat the Broncos in Denver holding the league’s best rushing team to fewer than 100 yards on the day. Mike Tomlin is showing that he is a damn fine coach as the Steelers continue their winning ways. The defense even without Joey Porter is ferocious. Now we come to the Falcons. Deangelo Hall may have hadhis best performance ever but noone is talking about it because he can’t keep cool when you need to. A confrontation with Steve Smith, a pass interference penalty, and unsportsmanlike conduct foul, added up to 67 yards in penalties on a drive where the Carolina Panthers not only tied the score but seized momentum. The Falcons had their chances late in the game but could never stop the Panthers late in the game. With the Falcons struggling and a town hall meeting hosted by ESPN last night the “Vick Divide” is definitely alive. Byron where art thou. It still doesn’t help that Matt Schaub continues to do great things for the Texans who are 2-1 after their loss to the Colts 30-24. Even in defeat Schaub showed how good he can be. On a late drive in the fourth quarter he completed 10 straight passes to pull the Texans within six. Eli Manning showed that Peyton is his big brother with the Giants come from behind victory over the Redskins 24-17. Down 17-3 at the half Eli led three touchdown drives the last ended when he hit Plaxico Burress for 52-yard catch and run. The game wasn’t over until the much maligned defense stood on its ear and held the Redskins out of the endzone four times from the one yard-line.

The Saints have proven you cannot carry last year luck to this year season. Like the Falcons and the aints i mean Saints back to the black out days. I wonder in about three to five years will the Saints go out L.A.??? Will see
