Atlanta Xplosion Eastern Conference Championship 2007
The Atlanta Xplosion’s defended their Eastern Conference crown by defeating the New York Sharks 10-7. In a game where the Xplosion started off very slow, but showed their championship form with their second-half comeback. They now go on to defend their crown August 11th, at Roswell High School against Detroit Demolition (the Western Conference Champs).
In a defense dominated first-half, the Xplosion squandered numerous chances with turnovers. A golden opportunity was lost when Cheryl “LIIT ” Glover, #7- Quarterback, threw a costly interception in the red-zone. The Sharks defense came to play limiting the Xplosion’s offense. Not to be out done, the Xplosion continued its dominating season, even without their number one performer Angela “DeathRowe” Rowe, #41-Linebacker. Rowe went out with an apparent ankle injury. A very physical first-half ended 0-0.
The Xplosion got a wake-up call when the Sharks’ Courtney Ray, #9-Quarterback, threw a pass for about 60-yards (catch and run). Putting the Sharks in scoring position. A few plays later, the Sharks were up 7-0. The Xplosion answered the call when “LIIT” rolled out to find Jessalyn Martin, #16-Widereceiver, streaking down the “Sideline” and hit her in stride for a touchdown strike. They tied the game 7-7. When the momentum fully on the Xplosion’s side, the “Darkside Defense” dug in. With the constant pressure on the Sharks’ quarterback, resulted in a sack and fumble in which the Xplosion recovered. A few plays later, the game winning field goal was kicked by Jakequeline Walls, #78-Kicker.
The Atlanta Xplosion has one more chance to defend their championship, August 11th. Go check them out.
