Picture this, A man wakes up from a long night to find himself in the midst of a manhunt. Problem is he is the hunted, and now must kill or be killed to survive by any means. From sneaking up from behind and slicing a mans throat, to cutting off a mans head with a shovel, whatever it takes to get out alive. Sounds like a really good action movie doesn’t it?
In reality it is Rockstar’s newest game coming out in August MANHUNT 2. For those who don’t know who Rockstar is, This is the team that created Grand Theft Auto, Bully, Manhunt. Rockstar’s games are known for explict language,violence, even breaking the law.
The European release of Manhunt 2 a few months ago, has now claimed it’s first victim. No names were disclosed as to who, but the crime that was committed was a young boy took the life of another by trying to cut his head off with a shovel. Now the country has banned the game. This is the same country that has rascism, riots, fires, and even murder at soccer games. I don’t see them banning soccer in the near future. I’ am a avid gamer and I’ve played and tested some really contraversial content games and by no means do I want to go out and recreate what I played. Some would say there is a fine line between reality and fantasy. I think maybe the problem is not the games but the people who play them.
Manhunt 2 coming to the U.S. is now starting to get publicity, whether good or bad it is still publicity. My take on the matter is, If we ban this game then more people will want to play it and will do whatever it takes to get it. Then we are no better off than the U.K. . It will have a MA-17 rating. So how bout this lets take responsibility, If you are not 17 You can’t buy this game period. I know what your thinking…. the parents will buy for the kids…..right? Well lets’s hold them accountable for their childrens actions. Banning this game is a bad idea, But parenting and responsibilty is a better one. What do you think?
