In some situations rain can mean good luck. If it rains on your wedding day that means you will have a happy marriage and if it rains in Wimbledon that means you will beat the hell out of Daniela Hantuchova. And that is excally what Serena Williams did Monday at the quarterfinals. Williams collapsed with a strained calf, screaming in pain and buring her face in the grass. She knew that this injury could not stop her from winning in Wimbledon. Williams was a set up but trailing 4-2 in the second-set tiebreaker. When the rain came down she limped off the court. The rain delay lasted nearly two hours, after it stopped you seen a new Serena appear in sweat pants and both legs taped. It took a while for her to warm up, she lost the first five points but then began to move a lot better. Hantuchova shanked several shots down the stretch, including one in the rally where she lost serve to fall behind 4-2. On the final shot, she whacked a strong backhand return that Hanuchova couldn’t handle. With her parents and sister Venus looking on Serena blow a kiss to the sky as to say “Thank You!” ”I could not move before the rain. Just everything stopped,” said Williams.  Watching her play that game kind of reminded me of Michael Jordan playing with the flu. Even though he was extremely sick he still dropped 38 pts against the Utah Jazz.  This is another reason why I love sports so much. The passion that these guys have for the game they love so much that nothing can stop them. We can only hope that the pain stops and she can make thourgh the next match.
