New Record and New Champ in Hot Dog Contest
Joey Chestnut, a 23-year-old Californian just won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Championship by eating a record 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes. Chestnut broke his own world record and also beat reigning champ Takeru Kobayashi. Kobayashi, the Japanese eating machine, recently had a wisdom tooth pulled and had a sore jaw. But the winner of the last six competitions did not go down with out a fight. Kobayashi finished with 63 hot dogs and buns in his best performance ever. This is the first time since 1999 that an American has won the competition.
