South Carolina 2007 preview
8-5 overall 3-5 SEC 6 offense 9 defense both kickers
Steve Spurrier has the people in Columbia excited about the present and future of Gamecock football. An 8-5 season that included wins over Clemson and Houston in the Liberty Bowl. A strong recruiting class has the future looking real bright. Close losses against Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Florida ( a total of three kicks blocked) have South Carolina truly on the cusp of Atlanta. More consistency will be needed from QB Blake Mitchell, Cory Boyd, and the entire offensive line. The wide receiver position took a major blow with the early departure of Sidney Rice to the NFL. Kenny McKinley should help ease the burden. Nine starters return on defense. Twins Casper and Jasper now will be starting at linebacker, as Casper will move from DE to OLB. Defensive Coordinator Tyrone Nix is one of the best coaches in the country. It could be a matter of time before South Carolina calls Atlanta home. Road games against Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, and Arkansas are the test of the schedule. then of course the budding rivalry with Florida (Nov 10).
