Ode to a entertainer, wrestler, a Champion

Written on June 26, 2007 – 6:42 am | by chanceblack |

As I sit thinking of a way to express my feelings on the recent passing of one of my favorite entertainers Pro wrestler Chris Benoit, I can’t help but feel angry as well as sad. I grew up watching wrestling and even though it is all scripted and pre-determined, I was still amazed at the hard work those guys put in to make you believe that it was’nt.

The thing about Chris was he had no gimmick. No catchy one liners, or flashy costume, He just came out week after week and wrestled for the fans. In the world we live in now where image seems to mean everything, and guys having all kinds of gimmicks and circus like showmanship. It has to be stated that some guys in the entertaining industry just want you to see the passion and dedication they have for their craft. No matter what sport or job, there is always the guys that stand out and the guys that are just there , but without those guys that are just there the show isn’t the same. You can always tell the guys that love the show and the guys that love what they do. Chris seemed to me to love what he did. His style never changed and when you watched the matches he was in although scripted, You always believed he wanted to entertain and that he was going to win because of the passion and intensity he showed in the ring.

So to hear that his death and the deaths of his wife and 7yr old son may have been a murder-suicide, Really has hit me hard. He had no real image to up keep and he really seemed eager to keep all those who watched entertained. Chris had what everyone has been working our butts off to attain. Fame ,fortune, family (in no particular order), And he could do what he loved to do without having to be something he wasn’t. No gimmicks, flash, or crazy antics. So I’m praying that there was some derange lunatic that took his life and the lives of his family.

I don’t want to think that the man I thought really had it all, couldn’t handle it. My prayers go out to Chris and his extended family and surviors, & friends. REST IN PEACE & GODSPEED       RABID WOLVERINE!!!!!!!!!!!

till next time
