New Contract for LJ
Basketball is not the only sport where players are asking for more money or a better contract. It looks like Larry Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs also has some demands. He is asking for a new contract and said he will even hold out till training camp to get one. The running back had a NFL-record 416 carries last season. That’s why he is asking for a big raise over $1.7 million. Johnson’s agent Alvin Keels made a good point when he said “Its not good business for a player who rushes the ball 416 times in a season, back-to-back Pro Bowl season, back-to-back 1,700-yard season, back-to-back broken Chiefs records to come back and play for $1.7 million.” Some people may say he is being money hungry but hey that is life. The bigger issue is that Johnson and the Chiefs would be better off if Johnson were traded to a team that could pay him. For example:
The Philadelphia Eagles- Fans may say that they already have a running back Brain Westbrook, but he is not Johnson. The Eagles position themselves to win now with QB Donovan McNabb.
New York Giants- They need a running back to replace Tiki Barber. Brandon Jacobs is nice.
Green Bay Packers- They have no premier guy, if the Packers want to make QB Brett Favre happy, Johnson is a perfect fit.
New Orleans Saints- Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush were a great combination last season. Johnson and Bush would be even better.
