American League Players of week.
Well they used to be teammates. Now they share the American League offensive player of the week award. Gary Sheffield hit a milestone this week by driving in his 1,539 career RBIs and put him into a tie with Tigers Hall of Famer Harry Heillman for 40th on the all-time list. One day and two RBIs later, he passed Hall of Famer Willie Stargell for 39th all-time. Sheffield helped the Tigers take two out of three from the N.L. East leading N.Y. Mets. Alex Rodriguez partied like a rock star at the plate. The All-Star batted .417 with four homeruns and 11 RBIs and has helped the Yankees win 6th in a row.
