All Hail To The Queen-VENUS!!!

Written on July 5, 2008 – 9:58 pm | by Harry Robinson |
Venus Williams
Venus Willams beat her sister Serena straight sets 7-5,6-4.  The win was Venus fith win for her at Wimbledon.  And is her 9th grand slam in her career.  Venus has lost to her sister 5 straight times in the final.  So for Venus to finally breakthrought against her younger sister was outstanding.  Venus set a women’s record by serving a 129 mph in her match against her sister.”At no point am I ever able to forget that it’s Serena,” Venus said, sounding sincere, “because I have the ultimate respect for her game. If I was playing anyone else, I wouldn’t have to face what I had to face today, so it’s impossible to forget.” The two sisters have been criticized for having lack luster finals.  But today both ladies wanted to win it all.  Serena didn’t have to much to in her interviews after the Wimbledon final match up.   Next for both ladies is the doubles in Wimbledon and as for the singels the U.S. Open.

Gilbert Arenas Signs For 111 million !!!

Written on July 4, 2008 – 8:02 am | by Harry Robinson |

Arenas will be a Wizards for a while.  Gilbert Arenas  has signed for 6 season worth 111 million.  Arenas was reportedly going for the mas deal for $127 million.

“I’m basically giving back $16 million,” Arenas told the Washington Times. “This is in line with what I’ve been saying the whole time. You see players take max deals and they financially bind their teams. I don’t wanna be one of those players and three years down the road your team is strapped and can’t do anything about it.”  Arenas averaged 22 points 5 assist and 4 rebounds.

“It’s a relief,” Arenas told the Washington Times. “It was a burden at the same time. Your whole city is depending on you, wondering if you’re going to make the right decision. I’m a franchise player and sometimes franchise players need to make franchise decisions.”

West Coast Most Wanted-Elton Brand !!!

Written on July 3, 2008 – 6:31 am | by Harry Robinson |

Kudos to the Clippers for going ahead and getting Baron Davis to play point guard for them.  The only problem is now they must signed Elton Brand.   And now the Warriors who was Baron Davis old team has now stepped in and has made and offer that maybe to good to turn down if you’re Elton Brand.  Reportedly the deal is worth 90 million for 5 years.  The Clippers has proposed a 5 year 65 million deal.  The day after they signed Baron Davis.  But reportedly Brand will remain with the Clippers espcially since they signed Baron Davis.  But the Clippers do look like they’re going to loose one of they players on the team.  Corey Maggette has reportedly about to signed with the Spurs.  This is highly unsual for the Clippers to be so involved in all these type of moves in the off season.  It looks like if Elton Brand decide to say the Lakers might have some competition for who owns the Staple Center this year in Los Angeles.

Rays Are For Real-Rays 7 Red Sox 6 !!!

Written on July 3, 2008 – 6:15 am | by Harry Robinson |

Evan Longoria, Carlos Pena and Akinori Iwamura celebrate at home after Longoria and Pena scored runs in the seventh inning on a Gabe Gross hit.

Red Sox nation has to be wondering, what is it going to take to beat the young and upcoming Tampa Bay Rays.  Last the Rays over came a 4-1 hole and beat the Red Sox last night 7-6.  Rookie sensation Evan Longoria went 3-4 last night and drove in three runs.  Along with young stud B.J. Upton who made the play of the game with and centerfield grab.  The manager of the Rays Joe Maddon had this to say”It’s a really good feeling. I can’t tell you that I expected it — I’d be lying — but right now … we do expect to win on a nightly basis,” As for the Red Sox they are now 0-6 this season going up against the Rays at home.  And last night the Rays had a sold out game.  The Rays also when they’re having more than 30,000 in there ball park this season are 12-1. The Rays lead the American League East by 3.5 games.  But more importantly have a 5 game lead in the lost column.  It doesn’t get any easier for Boston who take the Yankees in a four game series at Yankee Stadium.

NFL NEWS WEDNESDAY

Written on July 2, 2008 – 7:53 am | by chanceblack |

Sup everybody? This season is shaping up to be a barnstormer.  We have big names on the free agent market that don’t have a team,  players still acting stupid, Commish wants to cut rookie pay, and players reaction to the Commish ideas.  So lets see what’s really going on shall we?

1).  Foxboro Ma.: Willie Andrews was released by the Patriots. He was arrest on Monday for assualting his girlfriend by allegedly putting a gun to her head.  Andrews was a 2nd year defensive back used alot on special teams and third down max cover passing plays. This would have been his 3rd season with the Pats. I don’t get it…….. what is the deal?  You are on the best team in the NFL and have a chance to get something most of us will never have, and you’re on one of the most popular teams as well and you know that Roger Goodell is holding players and teams to a new standard.  I don’t think Andrews will be back in the NFL. It’s a shame the Pats felt he had a lot of talent too.

2). Well the Commish can’t say he is not trying.  Roger Goodell is looking for a way to cut the rookie salary.  He believes that the rookies coming into the NFL should not be getting paid more than the veterans and have not played yet.  My partner in crime H30 really has the right idea.  yea I said it H30 is right!!!!!!! the rookies should get a guaranteed contract or a base salary something like the NBA rookie salary.  Both the players and the owners would be happy about this.  It’s the union and Gene “I’m a Idiot” Upshaw that don’t like it.  Look at it this way……1) the rookies will be in camp early no more hold outs. 2) the Rooks will have to prove themselves at the NFL level, so if you get a Ryan Leaf type bust the team does’nt suffer that much of a hit having to let him go. 3) The Coaches and GM’s will have enough money to fill their rosters with the best available players. 4) The Vets can actually get paid for their job on the field not what the 1st round pick got at his postion. 5) The Owners will be saving money so they can build State of the Art stadiums for their fans. 6) the most important reason is the ticket prices can go down and fill up some of these venues and more fans will come to games if ticket prices are reasonable. GENE IT’S CALLED BALANCE!!!!!!!!!!! you have a the number 1 product in the USA if you want to remain number 1 you need balance.

3). Saline Mich. Let the Kevin Jones sweepstakes begin. Jones held a workout for the Dolphins,Packers,Steelers,Lions,Browns,Buccaneers Saturday to show he is healthy 5 months after Knee surgery. Jones did cuts, sprints and shuttle runs for all the team reps in the hope that someone will give him a chance to make a roster.  Travis Henry, Shaun Alexander, Ron Dayne and Cedric Benson are still on the market.

4).Atlanta Ga: Even though Joe Horn wants to be traded, there seems to be no interest in the WR. Horn made himself a household name with the Chiefs and Saints. He came to Atlanta to help make the Falcons relavent.  After the departure of Coach Bobby Petrino, Horn has been put to the 3rd WR spot.  Horns agents has been cleared to guage what teams are out there, sadly no offers have come across the table.

UNDEFEATED- Rays 3 Red Sox 1 !!!

Written on July 2, 2008 – 6:30 am | by Harry Robinson |

Matt Garza, in his first game since pitching a one-hitter against the Marlins, delivers another strong start for the Rays, allowing one run in seven innings.

The Rays continue there winning ways.  Last night Matt Garza went 7 strong innings gave up only 1 run.  And the Rays beat the Red Sox last night 3-1.   With the win Rays now have a 2.5 lead in the American League East.  Garza with the win last night is 7-4 for the season.  Tim Wakefield the starting pitcher for the Red Sox had this to say”These guys aren’t like they used to be,” Wakefield said. “They’re pretty good over there.”  Terry Francona manager of the Red Sox had this to say about yesterday’s day game”I don’t really care to talk about who we’re missing. We showed up to win and they outplayed us, “That’s what matters to us. … Regardless of who you have out there, you either win or you don’t.”  Francona is reference to David Oritz is not in the line up.  The Red Sox have been struggling to score runs. Will the Red Sox get swept tonight?  It’s good chance they might do to they’ve not won yet in Tropicanna Field this season.
